Mikao Usui developed reiki in the early 1900s, deriving from the Japanese words rei (universal) and ki (vital life force). Reiki aids healing by helping people become physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually balanced. Reiki can support healing by stimulating the body’s natural immune system and self-healing, relieve pain and tension, and support standard medical treatments.
