Selenite the Moon Crystal

Selenite is a much beloved crystal, deriving its name from the Ancient Greeks who named the translucent crystal after the 'moon', Selene. Selenite is often found in caves in Mexico, Morocco, and Madagascar as well as Italy, Russia, France, Canada and the United States.

Selenite is a form of the mineral Gypsum and is very soft, being a 2 on the Mohs hardness scale.

Selenite is a popular among crystal enthusiasts and is associated with the seventh chakra or the crown chakra. The crown chakra, located at the top of your head, is associated with enlightenment, spirituality, and angelic consciousness. During meditation, Selenite may be used to access past lives as well as future lives.

Selenite instills a sense of inner peace and calmness making it an excellent choice for meditation or spiritual work. Although Selenite is considered a soft stone, what it lacks in physical strength it makes up for metaphysically: it is all about activation, connecting to the third eye, clearing energy blockages, raising awareness, and purification. Selenite is often used to connect with spirits and activating your intuition and psychic abilities.

Selenite is revered as a powerful crystal as it has the ability to cleanse itself when used for healing and dispelling negative energy from individuals and spaces. Selenite may also be used to cleanse the energy of your other stones, or, when working with other crystals, Selenite may be used to amplify the attributes and metaphysical properties of those other crystals.

In addition to the protective qualities of Selenite, Selenite may help you to release bad karma from previous lives by working on the psyche to change your perspective. When you welcome Selenite into your life, it may help attract prosperity in all areas in your life by promoting a positive attitude and outlook, making you a magnet for success and luck.
